A strong commitment to better waste management
As part of the European LEADER programme, Camping Sunêlia l'Hippocampe obtained a grant to improve its waste management and raise awareness among holidaymakers of more sustainable practices. Thanks to this support, a number of concrete actions have been put in place to encourage sorting, composting and waste reduction throughout the site.
Our actions for more sustainable practices
♻️ New waste sorting facilities
Two new selective sorting areas have been created on the Château-Arnoux and Volonne sides, with skips for different types of waste:
Household waste
Packaging (yellow bin)
Glass (green bin)
Cardboard
Bulky goods
In addition, 9 outdoor sorting bins, strategically placed around the campsite, make it easy for all our visitors to sort their waste.
🍃 Composting and bio-waste management
To take things a step further, a rotating composting station has been installed. It enables all food leftovers from the restaurant, snack bar and accommodation to be processed. Each accommodation is now equipped with bio-bins, and campers on pitches can ask for one at reception.
🐶 Facilities for everyone's well-being
To maintain a pleasant living environment for everyone, 6 bag dispensers for dog faeces have been installed around the campsite.
🏡 Easy sorting in all accommodation
Mobile homes in the Luxe and Prestige ranges are equipped with sorting bins.
Mobile homes in the Confort range have sorting bags for packaging.

📢 Awareness-raising, communication and training
In order to encourage a virtuous approach to waste management, the Mini Club's children are being given the opportunity to take part in an awareness-raising game called the ‘sorting rally’.
In addition, a visual communication campaign has been set up:
- Posters in all accommodation to raise awareness of sorting and composting.
- New, clearer and more visible signage on sorting areas.
Lastly, a half-day training course has been given to all the campsite's year-round staff, and seasonal workers are made aware of the issue during their induction.
